La presentación de "Bandada" en la Casa del Lector de Madrid reunió a un amplio grupo de autores y ilustradores, profesores y bibliotecarios, promotores de lectura y expertos en Literatura Infantil y Juvenil. La editora y crítica literaria Felicidad Orquín, que participó en el jurado del V Premio Internacional Compostela y contribuyó a elegir esta obra como la ganadora del certamen, elogió la capacidad de estos jóvenes autores -Julia Díaz y David Álvarez- para plasmar con hermosas imágenes y palabras certeras, una profunda reflexión sobre nuestro tiempo. Como explicó el director de Kalandraka, Xosé Ballesteros, "Bandada" se suma a "Cerca, "Un gran sueño", "La familia C" y "El camino de Olaj", los álbumes que les precedieron en un concurso que nació de la Campaña de Animación a la Lectura del Ayuntamiento de Santiago, en la que participa Kalandraka. Julia Díaz y David Álvarez explicaron los entresijos del que se ha convertido en su primer libro publicado, el complejo y apasionante proceso de creación en el que invirtieron más de un año de trabajo, documentándose, puliendo el guión, elaborando decenas de bocetos... El resultado, una obra de arte en todos los sentidos.
