Nests
Big, small, approachable, hidden, original… these birds live in different places. So different and similar at the same time, birds raise our curiosity and admiration.
With their multicoloured feathers, their slender shape and their enviable ability to fly, birds arouse children's curiosity. ‘Nests’ is a picture book for pre-readers and early readers that brings us closer to the concepts of diversity, biodiversity and fauna, suggesting different types of bizarre birds, original nests and disparate family formats, with a style that combines reflection, humour and absurdity.
With brief sentences and capital letters, Pepe Márquez highlights the singularity of each species of bird and its corresponding nest model: built in high or low places, small or large, sophisticated or humble... the protagonists of this book show us that, being all birds, they can be at the same time so different and so similar.
The textured images characterise Natalia Colombo's aesthetic proposal, in which a contrasting palette of intense and luminous colours stands out, both in the figures and in the backgrounds. Her drawings are schematic, with poorly defined profiles, and accentuate the playful character of the work.
