Ruiz Johnson, Mariana Traducción: Carlos Heras

Maternity is seen across poetry and art, tenderness and chromatic exuberance. A universal song about love and life in all its extension, from the human being and the creatures that surround us, up to the Mother Earth.

Love is the fundamental concept that justifies the how, the why and the wherefore of such a simple, yet universal rhymed text, close to childhood and accessible to readers of all ages and cultures. The poem is complemented with exuberant images in content and colour, where nature is present from beginning to end. With this work, Mariana Ruiz Johnson wanted to capture her experience of motherhood from an artistic and literary approach. Blues, yellows, reds, greens... vivid, intense and harmoniously contrasting colours are captured in the pages of this album. Its content is inspired by the ornamental style of Latin American popular art. From a chromatic point of view, through the expressive and poetic strength of the illustrations, it also pays homage to painters such as Paul Klee.

The human being is just another species in this album where Mother Earth is praised in its entirety: animals, plants and other fragments of the world around us.
